Gladys Lynch - Croix’s Hill Bridal and Sewing Shop
It was in May of 2002 when Gladys Lynch left her permanent job due to a recurring back injury not knowing what the future would bring her. She approached the CBDC and was approved for the Self Employment Benefit program for 52 weeks to open a small sewing and alteration business . In August of 2002 she opened her basement door to Croix’s Hill Sewing Shop.
Gladys has grown from booking six weddings in 2002 to booking 52 in 2007. She has grown from the basement of her home in 2002 to her own building in Spaniard’s Bay in 2007. She now has two seasonal employees and one part time seamstress.
With the assistance of CBDC Trinity Conception’s Investment program, Gladys Lynch now operates Croix’s Hill Bridal and Sewing Shop in a brand new building at the top of Brazil’s Hill in Spaniard’s Bay. She can custom make wedding gowns, dresses for bridesmaids, flower girls and mother of the bride. They also make confirmation dresses, christening gowns, curtains, quilts, bed skirts and prom gowns, in addition to alterations. As well, the bridal shop orders and sells wedding gowns, prom gowns, flower girl dresses, tiaras and veils and offers complete wedding attire rentals.
Gladys’ passion is very evident as you walk around her shop. You can view the many pictures and thank you cards from Brides that have come and gone, and for anyone that knows Ms. Lynch, her friendliness, professionalism and down to earth attitude speaks for itself.
CBDC Trinity Conception was very pleased to present the first annual Business Distinction award for outstanding achievement to Gladys Lynch of Croix’s Hill Bridal and Sewing Shop. Gladys received her award during Small Business Week, October 16, 2007 at the Harbour Breeze in Harbour Grace. |
