Inn By The Bay
Inn By The Bay is a four and one half star Bed & Breakfast in the community of Dildo, which has been called one of the ten prettiest small towns in Canada by Harrowsmith Magazine.
Todd Warren, owner and operator of Inn By The Bay, purchased what he calls "a saltbox house with Victorian overtones" with a breathtaking view of the bay in 1997. Todd had been in the hotel and restaurant management business in Ontario for four years and in Newfoundland for four years. He wanted to persue the bed and breakfast aspect of the accommodations industry after returning to his home town of Dildo. The Inn By the Bay, the name that he chose for his B&B, is a house dating back to 1888.
Although the exterior of the house remains in tact, Todd completed extensive renovations to the interior of the house, developing it to meet the needs of the discriminating modern tourist. Each of the five guest rooms has an ensuite bath, TV/VCR with cable, a telephone, and computer connection. All beds have down filled duvets and pillows.
The guest rooms each have an individual style, which is accentuated with European, American, and local antiques. The Captain's Suite, the largest room, includes a sitting area.

Breakfast, English afternoon tea, evening dinner, and cocktails are served in the glassed-in verandah sunroom. Todd also caters to festive Christmas parties, weddings, business dinners, and business meetings.
The verandah sunroom is tastefully decorated in green and gold and is actuated with antique furniture. It boasts a spectacular view accross the bay towards Spread Eagle Island and the Cove and Ridge Room.
In 2003, Todd purchased George House, which is located on the hill above the Inn By the Bay. George House, a second empire style house which was built in 1885, is a Newfoundland Heritage Structure.
Together both structures are located on 4 acres of meadowland overlooking Dildo harbour.
On the ground floor of George House, Todd has established "Dildo Treasures and Antiques."
Antique china, silverware, glass and jewellery are offered in the store, along with a range of local crafts, seal fur products, and many other fine items.
With its central location on the Avalon, near St. John's and Argentia, the Inn By the Bay has beome a very popular tourist site. Todd hopes that the additions that he has made to his property in the past year will make his year round operation even more popular and successful in the future!
